I tell any DJ who doesn’t have the time, interest, or brainpower to know how to use an OS to get a Mac…but I forewarn that when you get into the house of Steve that you shouldn’t complain when you’re paying twice a much for a laptop than anyone else does.
His stability comes from Apple having 100% control on the hardware that goes into the computers, as well as being able to restrain you from anything they deem as “a threat”.
Lenovo, Toshiba, Sony, Asus, Dell…they all make quality laptops , great for the best DJ laptop too.
If you need brand new, can’t afford or not interested in a Mac, or whatever reason you want to go Windows…then go with one of those companies.
Just know your limits and what the computer can do.
There is a reason why the big headliners now show up with two laptops and run them connected.
I like Macs (as the best DJ laptop), but for the price it’s hard to justify if all you’re doing is using it as a DJ machine.
There are hundreds of comparable Windows machines for almost a third of the price that will run any DJ application with ease. (before i went mac, i had a hell of a time running the dj app Torq on dell laptop it would freeze up and do all sorts of weird
things) If you’re using it for other things (surfing, word processing, Photoshop, etc) and you’re a computer caveman, then save up the extra cash and get a Mac.
Or, another option is buy two Windows laptops for the same price and use one for surfing at home and dedicate one to your DJ apps.
I have 2 imac's (21 inch & 17 inch), 1 15 inch macbook pro, and old powerbook (G4) i use them all daily in lab. the 21 inch imac i use it at my dj station i run serato on it, and production station i use 17 inch imac its has a (duo core) i have m-adudio firewire 410 box & i run garage band sometimes,im also on the internet alot (fb,my blog, down loading mp3,etc),the macbook pro i use it for djing i run serato & traktor apps on it. i use the powerbook for when out & about a need to grab some wifi (starbucks, cafe coco, etc) i can honestly say i never had any problems with any of my mac products, remember macs do not get viruses so you don't have to worry about getting those antivirus programs. FYI now if you are new to mac beware of this example your surfing the web all of a sudden you get a pop up talking about your mac is a risk of getting a virus do not i repeat do not fall for the okie doak and click on it, u just f#*ked up all i can say unplug it and take it to mac store. MACS DO NOT GET VIRUSES,  I have my own Mac Tech Patrick Clark if  your in need of service on you mac products (including all ipods, iphones, ipads) os upgrades, cosmetic & screen repairs, etc. give him a call, all his info listed at the bottom tell him DJ Ghost Dogg sent you
